The Tekton is expected to be offered with the same powertrain options as the Duster on which it is based:
- A 1.0-litre TCe producing 74 kW and 160 N.m
- A 1.3-litre TCe, co-developed with Daimler, producing 118 kW and 260 N.m
- A 1.8-litre hybrid combining a naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 1.4 kWh battery pack and two electric motors, producing a combined 118 kW
Transmission options for the petrol engines include a six-speed manual, with the 1.3 TCe also offered with an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The hybrid uses a unique multi-mode transmission that effectively results in a six-speed setup.
The Tekton is initially expected to be offered with front-wheel drive, although a four-wheel drive option is available on the European Duster and may follow in time.
Final South African specification has not yet been confirmed, so the local engine and transmission line-up may differ. We will share full details as soon as Nissan South Africa confirms them.
